GUIDE: What type of Cyclist are you?

A Dutch research grouped the different types of cyclist into six categories according to the type of use they make of their bicycle and the needs on the road. Read on to find out what kind of cyclist you are!

THE EVERYDAY CYCLIST

Those who use an e-bike or a traditional bicycle for the journey from home to the workplace (or to school) fall into this category. The daily e-biker travels the same roads and does anything he can not to make too many stops and delay his arrival at his destination. This type of cyclist does not have too many needs, if not to reach his destination safely and without being covered in sweat while riding his city e bike.

THE SPORTS CYCLIST

The sports ebiker is used to long distances and relentless terrains. His behavior on the street, therefore, will be much more reckless than other cyclists. This type of cyclist makes a job out his passion, and is much more inclined to invest in quality equipment.

THE RECREATIONAL CYCLIST

This is a cyclist who takes out his e-bike when it is sunny, or when there are ideal conditions for taking a ride with friends.

THE ATTENTIVE CYCLIST

This type of e-biker strictly respects the rules of the road and puts safety at the top of his priorities. The attentive cyclist, as well as the sports cyclist, will be willing to invest in accessories to protect himself and his bike. A good helmet and a stronger chain will allow him to maintain a high level of safety in the streets.

THE VULNERABLE CYCLIST

What distinguishes the pedal-assisted bicycle from the traditional bicycle is the possibility of riding it regardless of the cyclist's age and training level. This makes it accessible even to those who would not be able to use a bicycle for their daily commute or leisure trips. Like the previous cyclist, the vulnerable cyclist has his or her safety on the road as a priority and will prefers low-traffic routes.

THE COURIER CYCLIST

This type of cyclist turns the e-bike into his job. A greater investment in equipment and bike accessories for road safety is essential for this type of cyclist.

EXTRA: THE TOURIST CYCLIST

Although they are not part of the official list, tourists are worth a honourable mention, as they take part in electric cycling tours. These cyclists travel on roads with little traffic, cycle paths and paths in the countryside to visit places that could not be visited by car or on foot.
