“Everything will go by bike”: the autumn sequel of the yellow billboard slogan that has been popular in the Bologna area in recent months arrives.
A massive campaign, which takes into consideration advertising stations and shelters throughout the city with a beautiful common thread: the need for change and to move towards more sustainable mobility.
In recent months there have been so many people from Bologna who have rediscovered the pleasure and freedom that only cycling can offer, so much so that there has been a +20% of users.
In light of this significant increase, the Municipality of Bologna has done its part by developing a new emergency cycle network.
This time the campaign was expressed with the slogan “A road for everyone” and talks about the whole world linked to micro-mobility: scooters, e-bikes and saving on car costs.
This campaign is accompanied by another ambitious project: the BICIPOLITANA.
The Bicipolitana will connect Bologna and its surroundings and it will soon be possible to travel over 130 km while still riding your bike.
The first construction site will cover the San Lazzaro – Bologna stretch and will start from mid-October.
It will then be followed by other construction sites that will serve to connect Bologna with the 12 hinterland municipalities.
There will be many solutions put in place to complete the 20 km of connections: cycle platforms, cycle lanes and mixed sections will be built and 5 roundabouts and 52 cycle crossings will be involved.
Important numbers, therefore, which bode well for a real change in the road system and urban travel habits of citizens.
Finally, to give even more significance to the project, on 1 October the Metropolitan Office dedicated to bikes, already in the pipeline and initially scheduled for 2030.
The great increase in the use of bicycles, combined with the need to increase the infrastructure to support more sustainable micro mobility, especially after Covid, has determined the need to accelerate the construction times of the Bicipolitana.
The aim is to finish 60% of the infrastructure works by the end of 2020.
An important project, for an important cause.
A sign that something is changing, for safe mobility suited to everyone!
