A journey between art and nature

In addition to cooking recipes never made before, training on rollers and cleaning every corner of the house and our bike, in this quarantine period many have found time for one of the most beautiful sports dedicated to the mind ever, reading .

And so why not plan a trip that combines wonderful places like the beautiful Florence with the life of the "Great Poet" of Italian literature, Dante Alighieri?

A difficult route, which starts from the Santa Maria Novella station and ends at the Ravenna railway station.

We will travel along secondary roads with low motor vehicle traffic and cross 176 km of wonderful landscapes: from the Tuscan Apennines to the Romagna sea.

Ready?

Let's go!

The itinerary takes advantage of the 100 km of the Passatore, dedicated to the ultramarathon running competition, continuing on the cycle path that runs along the bank of the Lamone river until reaching the heart of the city of Ravenna.

A complicated route, full of ups and downs but which repays us for the wonders that characterize our Apennines, the sea breeze and the beauty of nature.

Along the route we will cross the Casentiesi forest park, the Vena del Gesso park and the Po delta park.

Furthermore, we will be able to count on three marked routes that intersect along the route, such as:

  • La Corolla delle Ginestre, a circular mountain route located at Brisighella;
  • The Ravenna-Cervia section;
  • An international route that connects the Ravenna station to Comacchio through the Ravenna valleys.

We will walk in the footsteps of Dante, born in Florence and died in Ravenna, and we will pass through the archaeological area of Fiesole and through the medieval town of Brisighella.

What about parking?

Here are some ideas!

  • Museums of Fiesole, between a Roman theater and an Etruscan temple, the Civic Museum collects beautiful medieval and early Renaissance works of art;
  • Chini Manifattura Museum in Borgo San Lorenzo, which documents the various periods of the family's activity in the ceramic and glass sectors;
  • Corolla delle Ginestre, a 55 km circular itinerary that leads mountain bike enthusiasts to capture the riches of the landscape among the scents and sounds of nature;
  • Brisighella, an ancient and wonderful medieval village built in the 14th century as a defensive bulwark;
  • Ceramics Museum – Faenza, a site that boasts a centuries-old tradition and is known throughout the world.
  • Ecomuseum of marsh civilization - Villanova di Bagnacavallo, museum dedicated to research activities, material recovery and techniques on the use of spontaneous vegetation in the Emilia Romagna valleys.

What about this path?

An immersion in nature, art and literature that will certainly leave us satisfied with the choice!

Happy riding!
