The Valtellina E-Bike Festival will be held in the beautiful Morbegno, named Alpine City 2019.
On September 19th and 20th, e-bikes will be the absolute protagonists for a weekend full of nature, sport and fun.
With the aim of introducing cycle tourism lovers to the heart of Lower Valtellina, the Festival will be a real moment dedicated to the rediscovery of natural landscapes, valleys and mountains.
Obviously you cannot miss the local flavors and traditions: among the medieval alleys, in fact, you can come across wineries, taverns and restaurants at every corner, where you can take a pleasant stop while tasting the local products.
«This territory has enormous potential – say the Festival promoting committee – In Lower Valtellina and in the area north of Lake Como there are paths of all kinds: from quiet excursions among the vineyards of the mountainous coasts, to all-mountain single trails for venturing into the side valleys, up to technical and challenging enduro tracks with more than a thousand meters of altitude difference and which arrive close to the historic center of Morbegno. Now thanks to the electric mountain bike, which makes the climbs more accessible, we can really entertain everyone and help raise awareness of an area truly rich in naturalistic and historical beauty. With all these ingredients the event will not disappoint!»
Here is the program, full of events dedicated to every type of cyclist.
We will start on Saturday 19th with Festival Ride, a 40 km challenge along the Rhaetian valley between vineyards, castles, historic villages, clearings, woods and panoramas that embrace the entire Lower Valtellina and upper Lake Como.
A route designed to guarantee fun for all skill levels: from professionals to e-MTB lovers or simply to those who want to experience a different day in company.
On Sunday 20th, however, several will leave tours which will take participants to the heart of the most iconic landscapes of Lower Valtellina.
Trips with wine and cheese tastings right into the most beautiful natural areas such as Val Gerola, Val Masino and Val Tartano – with its beautiful view of the Ponte nel Cielo.
There will also be an initiative dedicated to bikers who like to reach the summit and go downhill, between technical sections and smooth sections where they can let go of the brakes.
It will also be scheduled E-Enduro Race, a real race where enthusiasts and expert riders will be able to challenge each other on the adrenaline-filled tracks of the Orobic side of the valley.
A challenge designed on a route of approximately 32 km which involves timing on 3 stages: Città Alpina (1.6 km / 297 m D-), Contessa (3.07 km / 420 d D-) and Px (1.79 km / 272 m D- ).
A thrilling route, with a total of 1,000 meters of altitude difference, which ensures adrenaline rush combined with a great atmosphere.
All the initiatives will start from the Bike Village set up at the Exhibition Center, where there will be e-bike rental points.
You will also be able to try the special Ti-Rex Sport e-bikes, three-wheeled bikes capable of taking people with disabilities over terrain that would otherwise be impossible to travel on.
Finally, there will be no shortage of refreshment areas where you can relax and enjoy local flavours.
