An investment as precious as a pedal-assisted bicycle needs particular attention, especially when you leave it unattended between an excursion and a city tour. Here are some tips on how to tie your e-bike wherever you are!
Even for short-term stops, that of properly locking your e-bike must be a habit so deeply rooted that it is almost an involuntary reflection. It is not always possible to protect the bike from potential theft, but some small tricks (in combination with a high quality anti-theft system ) can discourage thieves.
If you are currently looking for a good chain, the Abuse brand (already available in our store) offers an excellent variety of anti-theft chains and padlocks, some of which have an integrated alarm.
How to lock your e-Bike
First of all, it is necessary to secure the bike to a fixed structure, even better if it is an element of the street furniture (street sign posts , street lamps, etc.). Avoid tying your bicycle to a tree unless it is a large, sturdy tree.
Furthermore, even if your pedal-assisted bike is in a safe place, public or private, make sure to always secure it to an immovable piece of furniture.
Depending on the type of anti-theft device in your possession, always make sure that the padlock is at a safe distance from the ground. An arched anti-theft lock suspended from the ground will be increasingly difficult to unlock than a chain in contact with the asphalt.
Always try to hide the lock of a U-Lock or, if possible, turn it towards the ground: this way, it will be much more complicated for a criminal to maneuver it in these conditions.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, pass the chain around the frame (or, preferably, secure the frame and front wheel to the fixed structure).
Finally, always leave your electric bike in a crowded public place.
