Huge success for the cycle tourism fair: over 15 thousand visitors were registered

The Cycle Tourism Fair held in the Fabbrica del Vapore on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March was a huge success.

Thanks to the great desire to discover new travel horizons and the beauty of discovering places carefully and accurately on an e-bike, both days recorded huge numbers of visitors.

“Tourism needs organization and as a government we are trying to encourage this organization, alongside the operators. There is a great demand for outdoor tourism: a phenomenon that began before Covid. And there is also a great demand for the routes, the Cammini. For this reason, as the Ministry of Tourism we have made an agreement with Enel and Snam to provide charging stations along the Via Francigena to those e-bike cycle tourists. The minister also confirmed the financing of the Bergamo-Brescia cycle route project. And with diesel at 2 euros per litre, we have to deal with some questions about the bicycle", reported the Minister of Transport Garavaglia, who reached the Steam Factory on Saturday morning by bike to inaugurate the first edition of the Fair.

One of the most appreciated innovations was the cycle parking, created in collaboration with Shimano, which filled up on both days: "300 bikes instead of 30 cars", was the slogan on the barriers.

50 exhibitors, many destinations to choose from, guests from the sporting world, workshops and testimonials: in short, this first edition of the Cycle Tourism Fair was full of events and much appreciated by visitors and administrations.

“We are very satisfied with this first edition, because it demonstrates that cycle tourism is no longer a niche phenomenon, but a consolidated reality in constant growth – reported Paolo Pinzuti, CEO of Bikenomist – Furthermore, cycle tourism is a segment that brings economic wealth to the internal areas of the territories, those traditionally less populated and forgotten by large tourist flows. We need greater public investment in low energy impact tourism."
