Mobility Bonus: everything you need to know.

After much waiting, theMobility Bonus” is about to become reality.

The Ministry of the Environment is ready to keep the promise made and, thus, many Italians who have bought bicycles, e-bikes and last-mile electric vehicles in recent months will be able to receive the long-awaited refund.

What is it about:

The "Mobility Bonus" is a contribution equal to 60% of the expense incurred for the purchase of bicycles, e-bikes and all electric vehicles such as scooters, hoverboards or Segway, up to a maximum of 500 euros.

The Bonus can also be requested for "shared mobility services for individual use, excluding those using cars" and sharing services.

When will it be possible to apply?:

Wednesday 4 November, the sixtieth day after the publication of the decree in the Official Journal of the Italian Republic, will be the official launch date of the platform dedicated by the Ministry of the Environment, where you can request a refund.

All applications must be submitted by 3 January 2021 although it will be necessary to register on the portal by 31 December 2020.

How to request the bonus:

As soon as the site is online, the applicant will have to access it using their code SPID (Public Digital Identity System) and, when requested, attach the invoice addressed to the applicant or the integrated tax receipt (talking receipt), proving the purchase of the goods.

Furthermore, the interested party must indicate the IBAN of the current account in the name of the beneficiary, to which the Ministry will credit the contribution.

To avoid the famous and much hated "Click day", the sum will be credited according to the purchase date of the goods, therefore purchases made from May 4th onwards will be "privileged", following the purchase date, not that of registration on the portal .

The Ministry ensures that the refund will be credited to the indicated IBAN after a couple of weeks.

Who is it aimed at:

Not everyone can claim the bonus.

In fact, as the decree reiterates, applicants can only be adults resident in regional or provincial capitals, in metropolitan cities or in municipalities with more than 50 thousand inhabitants.

Despite the 210 million euros allocated for the mobility bonus, requests could be higher than the actual availability of capital.

However, it seems that the proposal to allocate further funds in 2021, in order to make it possible for everyone to access the bonus, will be discussed by the two houses of Parliament, during the launch days of the platform.

Finally some certainty after so many doubts and questions!
