Ferrara will host the seventh edition of the Slow Cyclist Festival from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th October.
This event is dedicated to those who love cycling, enjoying the landscapes, stories and encounters along the way, enjoying the area and its traditions.
A celebration to those who choose the bike for the pure pleasure of pedaling and moving in a sustainable way.
“Blessed are the last who know how to enjoy life”, is the motto of the festival which perfectly reflects the philosophy of the festival.
Guido Foddis, creator of the Festival, presented the event thus:
“The champion is someone who would never have thought of getting down from the sofa from which they supported their favorite, to find themselves pedaling with him. To your own rules of the game. To the slow motion of your odometer.
At the Festival of the Slow Cyclist, the famous champion will be a companion to the slow cyclists, bottle holders (of Lambrusco!) to the bikers on the e-bike and at the service of an ideal: the ideal of slowness that brings together brothers.
This year too, the capital of slowness will be Ferrara, an inexhaustible source of "talent...slows", a completely flat territory, where every overpass becomes the Mountain Grand Prix. For three days the people of slow cyclists will meet in this paradise of pedaling at walking pace, to celebrate their strength and numerical predominance".
This year there will also be a Guest of Honor Gianni Bugno, a well-known world road champion, who will be put to the test by abandoning the stopwatch and abandoning himself to slowness.
The Slow Cyclist Festival will be a moment full of events: from the opening aperitif on Friday 27 October at the Nuova Casona and the presentation of Marco Pastonesi's new book, to one of the most iconic stages of the festival, "The slowest pedaling in the world” on Saturday 28 October, a special tour in the historic center of Ferrara up to the Granfondo del Merendone on Sunday 29 October.
