MobilitARS 2022: some numbers on the second edition

MobilitARS, the training symposium on the art of mobility, was held last weekend in Reggio Emilia.

Two days full of meetings, relationships and exchanges which saw the participation of 300 people united by the theme "building the city without cars" addressed through six macro-themes: More environment, More safety, More well-being, More energy, More space, More time.

This second edition, organized by Bikenomist in collaboration with the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, with the support of Selle Royal Group and Eco Counter, with the patronage of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, saw over 30 experts Italians and Europeans on the subject of mobility.

Even the city chosen was not left to chance: Reggio EmiliaIn fact, it is first in Italy for cycle paths, the biciplan and the regular bicycle plan were born here and, furthermore, it is precisely here that two super cycle paths are being designed capable of uniting the north with the south.

“We are happy with the City's participation in this new edition of MobilitARS” commented the Councilor for Sustainability Policies of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia Carlotta Bonvicini, who added: “The event was an opportunity to preview the new Biciplan which will be officially presented in the coming weeks, i.e. the new plan for cycling mobility in the city, Velopoli – Biciplan 2022”.

“We were finally able to return to our presence and create an opportunity for discussion and meeting between mobility and public space operators in Italy. We believe that the comparison with the best experiences must be increasingly stimulated and participated to elevate the debate which cannot be reduced to the needs of the individual, but to a value at community level. In this sense MobilitARS has achieved its objective" commented Paolo Pinzuti, CEO of Bikenomist and director of MobilitARS.

Different themes were touched upon, such as: attention to safety on school streets, the urgency to reduce speed in urban areas to 30 km/h, public space returned to citizens or the progressive disappearance of individual vans.

In conclusion, the importance of awareness of the historical climate, energy and social context emerged which passes from the liberation of space in favor of more greenery and sociality.
