Milan: 400 million will be invested in cycle paths.

In recent years the cycling situation in Milan has clearly improved and will continue to do so.

In fact, it has been established that 400 million euros will be invested to create a system of super cycle paths that will connect the 133 municipalities of the metropolitan area and integrate them with the existing cycle paths", reported Giuseppe Sala.

The Mayor of the Milanese city also added that the objective of the initiative called Biciplan Cambio is to “increase the amount of cycling. Therefore environmental protection and safety combining them with economic development and general well-being”.

Last July 2nd, the first section of line 6 of the Biciplan Cambio was inaugurated, which will connect Milan with the Idroscalo.

The project has a very ambitious objective: it wants to create a 750 kilometer long system of cycle paths between the capital and the hinterland.

These routes will be connected to each other, for some sections existing routes will be redeveloped while for others they will be created from scratch.

The Biciplan Cambio will have 24 lines: 4 circular, 16 radial and 4 super-fast Greenways that will cross the territory from north to south and from east to west.

Furthermore, the project envisages that the 80% of the services of interest such as schools, businesses, hospitals, interchanges with railway and metro lines, is located within 1 km of at least one line, in order to offer extensive territorial coverage.

An ambitious and very functional project that will certainly encourage the inhabitants of Milan to abandon polluting vehicles in favor of a more active and green choice!
