A real urban revolution is taking place in France.

Over the past two years, several French regions have allocated funds aimed at providing financial support to encourage the purchase of pedal assisted bikes, while more and more companies located in high urban density areas are offering their employees the option of renting e bikes at affordable rates.

The French initiative supports a recent study conducted by Deloitte, according to which the use of electric bicycles will double by 2022. Deloitte's research predicts that, by 2050, over 2.5 billion more people will live in large cities than there are today.

The hunt for an alternative for urban travel will therefore become essential for the proper functioning of our society, and an efficient and sustainable solution will positively contribute to the longevity of our planet.

The first step in the Île-de-France region was to launch a bikeshare project in the city of Paris, offering monthly e-bike rental at an approachable.

In fact, for all users willing to sign a six-month contract, the monthly rental rate is € 40 - compared to the € 75.20 monthly season ticket for local public transport; employers can contribute to the diffusion of this service by covering half of the monthly rate for their employees, then obtaining compensation from the region itself.

As for incentives topurchase e-bikes in France, the government has allocated funds to support residents who plan to use the car less in favor of the electric bicycle.

The financial contribution of the regions ranges from a minimum of €100 per person for the more modest regions, to €500 per person for the Île-de-France region, which in the period between February and June 2020 will have the opportunity to introduce over 20.000 e-bikes..

And in Italy?

The 2020 Budget Law has two amendments affecting the e-bike market: one foresees a bonus for scrapping the car, while the other provides a 30% contribution to the purchase of an electric bicycle.
