“Commitment, tenacity and workmanlike implementation were the reasons that decreed the victory of the Green Water Road, in an area that has been investing in the organization and promotion of cycle routes for decades and which today has an extensive and valuable network of cycle paths: an example to follow.”
This is the reason for the first place awarded to Green Road of Acqua del Trentino, together with Calabria Parks Cycle Path, for the 2021 edition of the Italian Green Award.
The itinerary, 143 km long, 113 km of which were obtained by recovering routes on river banks, old roads and abandoned railways, offers spectacular views, to say the least.
“Part of this itinerary is served by our provincial bike sharing, probably the most extensive in Europe on an extra basis: 90 cycle stations, 1000 stalls, 60 km of connected network", they say from the Autonomous Province of Trento "A cycle/pedestrian path which is a complete example of our mission: to unite the distinct geographical areas of Trentino thanks to an in-house capillary network, capable of being a valid alternative to the road of motorized vehicles".
The Green Road Dell'Acqua begins in Cadino, on the border with Bolzano, along the EuroVelo7 European Cycle Route. The cycle path runs along the Adige river, among nature, colors and the vineyards of the Wine Route.
Proceeding south you find Mezzacorona and Mezzolombardo, where the Noce stream flows from the Stelvio National Park.
By making a small detour along the CV TN 11 cycle path of the Val di Non, you can find yourself on a beautiful circular route suspended on stilts, where you can enter a beautiful willow and otani forest.
Highly recommended is the route to the Limarò gorges, a cycle path obtained by redeveloping the old abandoned state road and which offers an amazing view of the lakes and waterways of the Valle dei Laghi.
The route is carved into the rock, overlooking the gorges of the Sarca river: once again water is the common thread that creates scenarios of rare beauty.
