“Cycling Strategy” is the name of the resolution approved by the European Parliament which marks an important stage in the field of sustainable mobility.
With this resolution, member states are asked to double the number of kilometers that can be cycled by 2030 and to implement targeted industrial policies to support the bicycle sector.
It therefore seems clear that the bicycle is increasingly becoming an important means of transport and that it does not exclusively play a central role in sport or leisure.
The Cycling Strategy It is divided into 18 points which concern different areas of the cycling system, therefore we are talking about sport, tourism, health, industrial production and sales.
One of the proposals concerns the reduction of VAT rates on the sale, rental and repair of bicycles.
Furthermore there is the need to realize infrastructure that make urban travel safe and are able to connect centers with suburban areas.
It should therefore be favored accordingly intermodality, therefore being able to combine the use of the bike with other means of transport and, to encourage the use of the e-bike, charging points in the cities.
Finally, the development of EuroVelo, a network of itineraries that unites Europe and represents the largest cycle route system in the world
