On 6 March 2021, yet another Prime Ministerial Decree came into force which will be valid for one month: until 6 April 2021.
In this latest decree, Italy was divided into 4 different zones corresponding to the colors white, yellow, orange and red, depending on the epidemiological situation.
Each of these four colors brings with it restrictions and prohibitions and one of the most frequent questions we have been asked is what are the limitations inherent to riding an e-bike.
This is why we try to clarify things a little.
The white zone, the one most desired by everyone, is currently the privilege of only Sardinia, which has the same rules for physical activity as those in force in the yellow zone.
The latter does not have territorial limitations, as travel is also permitted outside one's municipality of residence. We must respect the "curfew", in force throughout Italy, from 10pm to 5am, during which no outdoor physical activity is permitted.
As regards the use of the bicycle, it is possible to use it for daily travel while maintaining a distance of one meter from other people, a distance which increases by a further meter in the case of sporting activities.
As regards the orange and "reinforced" orange zones, sporting activities related to cycling are permitted and it is possible to enter a municipality other than your own.provided that such movement remains functional solely to the sporting activity itself and the final destination coincides with the municipality of departure” we read on the Government website, which continues “It is also remembered that, pursuant to the Prime Ministerial Decree, for municipalities with a population of no more than 5,000 inhabitants, the surrounding territorial band is equated to the municipal territory, up to a distance of 30 km from the relevant borders". Furthermore, a distance of 2 meters must always be maintained.”
As regards the red zone, however: “it is allowed to carry out sporting activities exclusively within the territory of your municipality, from 5.00 to 22.00, individually and outdoors, maintaining the interpersonal distance of two metres. However, it is possible, when carrying out a sporting activity that involves travel (for example running or cycling), to enter another municipality, provided that such travel remains functional solely to the sporting activity itself and the final destination coincides with the municipality. starting".
Furthermore, outdoor tour guide activities, therefore e-bike tours and excursions, are permitted in the yellow and orange areas, in compliance with the restrictions in force, while they are prohibited in the red zone.
