E-Bike: safety first!

Having an e-bike allows you to fully enjoy adventures, places and experiences.

You can pedal faster, for longer and go up gradients and lengths that you would hardly have covered without a pedal-assisted bicycle.

It is also true, however, that with great fun comes great responsibility and it is true that you will certainly know your e-bike like the back of your hand, but a few extra precautions will certainly help you spend unforgettable moments in complete safety.

First of all, even if it seems obvious, always remember that e-bikes have a motor which, even if it comes into action only by pedaling, allows e-bikes to be faster than normal e-bikes.

It is often tempting to use the maximum level of assistance but we advise you, especially if you are a beginner, to get used to it gradually and become familiar with the various levels of assistance starting from the lowest.

Secondly, always remember that e-bikes are heavier than traditional bikes, precisely because they are equipped with a motor and battery.

More speed and more weight means you need more time to react to any obstacles while driving. So, one important thing you need to know, is that e-ebikes have more powerful and stronger brakes than you may be used to.

E-bikes are equipped with disc brakes which offer more power, more control and greater precision: these are important features that you need to keep in mind before using the brake lever.

If you are a novice, therefore, we recommend that you practice lowering speed gradually using your lighter hand and, above all, never just grab the front brake lever.

Always brake with both brakes, both front and rear evenly.

This way you won't overbalance yourself and you won't run into the dangerous, and painful, "catapult effect".

Another thing you need to keep in mind is that an e-bike often looks very similar to a traditional bicycle. This means that motorists or pedestrians who cross your path may not expect you to be riding an e-bike and doing 20-25 km per hour.

The advice, therefore, is to pay attention to the environment around you, especially if you are on the street or on a path shared with pedestrians.

Finally, never forget all the traditional road safety rules, always wear a helmet and make sure your e-bike is equipped with working lights.

For the rest, enjoy your moments, whether sporting, relaxing or adventurous, riding your e-bike!
