Now it's official: the project for the beautiful cycle path that will connect Brescia with Bergamo, the two Italian Capitals of Culture, has been presented.
It will be a 75 km long cycle path that will connect the walls of Bergamo with the San Salvatore-Santa Giulia complex and the Capitolium of Brescia.
To these 75 km, another 11 cycle paths will be added for a total of another 70 km: an ambitious project therefore which tends to enhance territories of great beauty, perfect to enjoy by e-bike.
Conceived and presented by Christian Novak and Mariasilvia Agresta of the Poliedera consortium of the Polytechnic of Milan, it is the first hypothesis of the route, already verified with several inspections.
Starting from Bergamo, the Serio Park cycle path will connect to pass through the villages of Brusaporto, Costa di Mezzate and Montello.
The Gorlago-Chiuduno stretch will be spaced apart from the provincial road while between Grumello del Monte and Castelli Calepio it will be possible to take two circular laps.
As for Lake Iseo, it can be reached by following the Rosta cycle path.
The Torbiere Nature Reserve will be the protagonist of the first stretch of the cycle route, which will then connect the beautiful Franciacorta passing through the villages of Provaglio d'Iseo, Borgonato and the Castles of Passirano, Bornato and Paderno Franciacorta.
From here the cycle path will continue along the path of the wonderful vineyards between Gussago and Cellatica and then enter the city of Brescia.
“Since the two provincial cycle routes are already substantially active, the municipalities have already created several cycle paths but these often do not have the right quality for an international cycle tourism route, because they are very minimal and have deteriorated over time. – explained Christian Novak of the Polytechnic of Milan – The most important thing that this project will do is widespread extraordinary maintenance work on existing cycle paths. The estimate is that there will be around 10-20 km of new tracks to be built, but above all we need to use the existing tracks and redevelop them”.
The project will then intersect with other important cycle paths, such as the Oglio, the Monaco-Milan or the Seriana Valley, in order to create a collaborative network for the entire European cycle path.
The route of the cultural cycle route will pass through approximately 800 assets of historical-cultural interest, 3 regional parks, 3 parks of supra-municipal interest, the Torbiere del Sebino nature reserve, the fascinating hills of Franciacorta and the wonderful landscapes of Lake Iseo.
Furthermore, road signs and information signs will be installed, so as to enhance and make the routes clear.
A beautiful project that establishes an important synergy, not only for the two municipalities, but also for the whole of Northern Italy, aimed at promoting the socio-economic and cultural relaunch of the area and enhancing the cultural heritage of the area.
