CIE, Cycling Industries Europe, has drawn up the Market Intelligence Report which provides important insights into the state of cycling in Europe in 2021.
The study focused on three elements: policies and investments of governments, level of cycling of citizens and company performance indicators.
The exponential growth of the bicycle market in Europe has been driven by the continuous and massive demand for e-bikes, which has exceeded 5 million of units sold, reaching a value of 19.7 billion euros, +7.5% compared to 2020.
As for the production, CONEBI has drawn up a report that records growth of approximately 10% compared to 2020, just over 16 million units in Europe in 2021.
The production of accessories and components also increased, reaching a value of 3.6 billion euros, compared to 3 billion in 2020.
Finally, it was recorded that even the overall investments in the bike sector they increased by 17 %, recording over 1.75 billion euros, compared to 1.5 billion euros the previous year.
Manufacturing jobs also increased from 77,500 in 2020 to nearly 87,000 in 2021.
Furthermore, of the over 1,000 SMEs present in Europe in 2020, numerical growth is estimated from 5 to 10% in 2021.
